Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving may be signed in two ways: do a modified compound sign with both hands for thank you and give , or simply sign turkey. For the first option, use both open, flat hands, palms facing up, and make an outward-moving gesture from the mouth area (thank you) to a short distance from the body, then mimic that gesture a further distance away with both hands simultaneously (a modified sign for give ).
A simpler sign for this holiday is simply the sign for turkey, wherein you hold your loose fist, with thumb and index finger pointing down, directly under your chin, then you wiggle your hand slightly, as if mimicking the loose skin of a turkey's chin and neck.
SIGN USAGE
Use the Thanksgiving when your toddler is ready to grasp the celebratory mood of the season. Consider using the sign when telling stories about the holiday or when doing simple crafts.
