Firefighter

The firefighter sign looks like the brass badge on a firefighter's helmet. To make the sign, you take an open dominant hand and place it on your forehead with the palm facing outward.

SIGN USAGE

Children often enjoy occupation signs. Use the sign for firefighter, farmer, and teacher along with flash cards to teach them the sign that represents each occupation. With each occupation, you can elaborate and give meaning to the word. For example, with firefighter you can talk about the siren, the fire truck, the fire, and the water coming from the hose.

RELATED SIGNS

Flash Card

The best use for this sign is to illustrate Daddy’s profession, or when your baby begins showing curiosity for firetrucks. Consider getting little firefighter suits or hats to facilitate role playing.

Thank you so much Baby Sign Language! I am a student, and this website really helped me work on a ASL project for school. Once again, thank you! 🙂
