Kitchen

To sign kitchen, lay your non-dominant hand in front of you, palm facing up. With your dominant, flat open hand, make a flipping motion above the non-dominant hand. It's as if you're flipping pancakes or eggs on your hand which serves as the frying pan.

An alternative ASL sign for kitchen is this: make a letter "k" with your dominant hand and flip it back and forth over your flat, open, non-dominant hand.

Flash Card

As soon as our little ones began to show mobility, we introduced a variety of signs that would allow them to describe different areas of the house. To teach this sign, you can play hide and seek and show the baby or toddler the sign for the room where he or she can find whoever is hiding.
