Read
To sign read, hold up your non-dominant hand flat, palm facing you, then take your dominant hand and form it into the ASL letter 'V' sign. Then point the two fingers of your 'V' hand from top to bottom of your open palm, as if the fingers are your two eyes scanning the page, and the palm is your book.
SIGN USAGE
We teach our baby the sign for read in preparation for storybook time before bed. It helps them understand the action apart from the sign for book, and it helps build up the excitement over hearing their favorite bedtime story again...and again...and again. As your baby gets older, they will understand that the sign read applies to many other materials as well (offline and online).
