Soda
To sign soda, form your non-dominant hand into a fist, or the ASL letter S sign, while laying it down on its pinkie finger side. Then forming the ASL number 5 sign, bend the middle finger forward on your dominant hand and press it down onto the crevice of your fist, suggesting the straw you insert into your soda cup.
Finally, retract your middle finger so it aligns with the rest of the fingers on your '5' hand, and pop your palm flat onto the top of your 'S' fist, as if to mimic your closing the plastic lid of your soda cup tight so that nothing spills out.
SIGN USAGE
Teach your toddler the soda sign when you are out at a fast food restaurant, and soda is part of your meal order. You can also teach the sign when you order soda along with your hotdog, popcorn, or chips when you are out to enjoy a snack with your movie.
