The beside sign starts with both hands flat and lying on their pinkie side, all fingers and thumb held together on each hand and pointing ahead of you. While keeping your non-dominant hand in place, move your dominant hand away after touching the other hand. Keep both hands parallel as you move your dominant hand away to the side.
Teach your child the beside sign when describing the location of persons or objects being discussed, or when you are instructing your toddler to sit or stand beside you or someone else.
This is a useful flash card taught best in conjunction with other prepositional or location-focused flash cards.
