Pet

To sign pet, form your non-dominant hand into a fist and keep it steady in front of you. Then take your open, dominant hand and use it to gently stroke your other hand a few times. It is like you are petting the head of your pet dog or cat.

Teach your toddler the pet sign when you buy them a pet, and you are demonstrating how gently they should treat the new fur baby of the family. Teach the sign as well when you are out on a stroll in the neighborhood or park, and you see other children or families playing with or walking their pets.
