Sorry
To sign sorry, make your hand into a fist and rub it in a circular motion across your chest. It is like you are rubbing around your heart because you are truly sorry.
SIGN USAGE
Sorry is a great sign to teach slightly older babies. It gives you a very gentle way to correct the baby and a nice ritual for them to earn forgiveness.

Flash Card
Manners matter. Social skills are best learned by imitation. Even if your baby does not fully comprehend the concept of sorry, use the sign often and in context.

I do not have kids but I am a teen and I am learning ASL in school. Your site is amazing the details and pictures are cool. I feel so confident in signing now. Thank you sooooo much!
That’s awesome, Harleen. Glad you’re benefiting from our site!
Is there a way to help my daughter distinguish between “sorry” and “please”? She’s only 10 months and even though she doesn’t do “please” correctly, (baby sign language babble- she swipes her chest, sometimes with both hands simultaneously) when I did the “sorry” sign she just looked confused and replied with “please”.
Thanks so much for your website, such a great tool for us and has helped my daughter be less frustrated when trying to communicate as well as helping with learning 2 languages at once .
ADMIN – Hi Alicia,
You could exaggerate the gesture or incorporate facial expression.
It is awesome that you have videos available to teach the signs. Sometimes I just can’t get it straight from the pictures and descriptions. Very smart, very helpful, thank you so much!
