Tear (Rip)

Tear is a natural sign. To sign tear, form both hands into loose fists or ASL letter A signs, and twist them in front of your body in opposite directions, as if you are ripping paper apart.

SIGN USAGE

Teach your toddler the tear sign when you want them to practice tearing the wrapping paper off their birthday or Christmas gifts. You can also teach this sign if you are doing your regular paperwork disposal at home, and you don't happen to have a shredder on hand. Teach tear when your toddler asks you about what you are doing.
