To sign toast, we hold up our non-dominant hand straight with fingers pointing up, and we tap it with our dominant hand on both sides using only the index and middle fingers. The sign looks like you are touching both sides of a slice of toast with a fork.
Toast is a favorite baby sign. We introduce our babies to the sign for toast at the breakfast table, or when having an afternoon snack of toast and butter.
Like most food items, toast is best learned contextually when introducing our babies to food.
