To sign ruler, form the ASL letter Y sign with both hands in front of you, their thumbs touching intermittently as you move your hands together and pull them apart a few times, indicating the length or breadth of something. This is also the sign for measure.
Teach your toddler the ruler sign in the context of orienting them to their very first school supplies, or when your child shows curiosity in your or your spouse's work involving a ruler.
This is a useful flash card taught best in conjunction with other flash cards pertaining to measurement or other tools that make our work easier.
