Sled is a combo sign. We first sign snow by wiggling the fingers of both hands in a downward, swaying motion, followed by having our dominant hand travel on top of our non-dominant hand, mimicking a sled going downhill. Note that your non-dominant hand needs to be in front of you, with palm facing down.
This is a favorite winter sign. We introduce our toddlers to the baby sign for sled as soon as we have an opportunity to go play in the snow.
We use sled in the winter and early spring when we head to the slopes as a family. The sign for sled is most suitable for babies and toddlers living in places with extreme winters.
